I had a linchpin once - in my head. Unbreakable and holding on to an idea that could not be proven wrong. I put all my faith into that steel and still it came undone.
Hitched my life to one assumption. No room left for your opinion. Piling up the contradictions until the day my linchpin couldn't hold the heavy load anymore.
So self assured with that pin set and secured. Forgot my reasons long ago. Held my position like a sacred old tradition. Ignored the warnings and the rattling sounds below.
I had a linchpin once, not anymore.

No I don't wait for your call, since I don't miss you at all. In fact my outline shaped the hole left in the wall. You've come to expect a reaction from me, but I've moved on and now it just seems petty.
'Cause you tried to hold me back to make up for what you lacked. Now you're on your own with no explanation.
I don't care about the stupid things you say but you're gonna hurt someone if you don't change your ways. And it won't be me, I'll be miles away. No it won't be me, I'll be miles away.
That was years ago and I still don't know how I fell into such a bad situation. But wherever I go I always take along something that's coiled up and ready to blow.
It might be liberation but I don't know. It feels like liberation every time I pack up and go.

'Blood Fortune' is everything I was hoping Aanthems first LP would be, and more. It's got a diamond hard edge, but still brims with the warm heartedness both Ryan and Geoff are known for. The very definition of diverse, this album offers something for everyone: hardcore sensibilities, melodic turns, and some of the most singalong-able choruses/gang chants ever. It's been a banner year for Vancouver punk, but this has easily been my most spun record since it's time of release.
